FD&D Pilot Fund

The Office of Faculty Development and Diversity has launched a fund to encourage and enable individual Schools to develop programs that will demonstrably advance diversity at the University, and the Office is interested in supporting Schools’ efforts that have high potential for replication across the University. The FD&D Pilot Fund may provide support for the development of programs, the improvement of faculty recruitment and development processes, or the enhancement of institutional capacities directly related to faculty diversity. Evidence of the availability of School matching funds for the duration of the pilot must be demonstrated at the time of application and must be endorsed by the School’s Dean.

Dependent Care Pilot Programs

In September 2006, the Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Development and Diversity launched two pilot programs intended to provide financial support to scholars who have child care or adult dependent care obligations, in order to give those scholars the support and flexibility necessary to fulfill the potential of their academic careers while also meeting the time demands of their families.

These grants are primarily intended to assist tenure-track faculty, but limited funds are available on a competitive basis for benefits-eligible postdoctoral fellows.

Grants may also be used in conjunction with existing benefits offered through Parents in a Pinch and Bright Horizons. Both have services in many American cities and abroad.
