The Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Development and Diversity (FD&D) was established to help the University realize its aspiration to find, develop, promote, and retain the world’s best scholars. Specifically, the Office of FD&D seeks to:
To encourage cross-University conversations about issues of faculty development and diversity in higher education, the Office of FD&D has established the FD&D Speaker Series Fund, to afford student and faculty groups the opportunity to invite scholars to speak about issues that fall under the Office’s mission. Relevant presentation topics include, but are not limited to:
The Office of FD&D will provide up to $2,000 per event, in addition to some administrative support, including:
The student or faculty group applying for funds will be responsible for all other aspects of the event, including, but not limited to:
Each group is eligible for one award per academic year. If a group applies but is not funded, that group may apply to a subsequent application round.
If a group is funded, the Office of FD&D will follow up with the group’s main contact to schedule a meeting to clarify a timeline for event preparation. Following this initial meeting, the Office will stay in touch with the group on a weekly basis, to maintain clear communication up to the event date.
Groups that receive funding are expected to provide a 1-2 page summary following their event.
Applications must be submitted at least 60 days prior to an event.
There will be two application rounds in academic year 2008. The application deadlines are:
