Libraries

Harvard University Library is a system of more than 70 libraries providing comprehensive access to Harvard's library holdings across the boundaries of individual faculties and disciplines. The University Library is also a department of the University's central administration through which the libraries collaborate in the areas of digital acquisitions and collections, information technology, high-density storage, and preservation. With more than 16 million volumes, it is the oldest library system in the United States and the largest academic library in the world. It is the fifth largest library collection in the world, after the Library of Congress, the British Library, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France and the New York Public Library.
