If an adult relative’s needs or care arrangements suddenly change, or if you are anticipating a transitional period, you can find emergency or back-up care to cope with a temporary or intermittent need.
Care.com BackupCare is an agency that sends a screened and qualified care provider to your adult relative’s home. You can pre-register with them for faster service. Parents in a Pinch offers both temporary care and consultation regarding longer-term solutions.
Through consultation with Harvard’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP), you can find advice and recommendations on any related issue, referrals to qualified adult-care providers, and free legal consultation with referral to an attorney who offers a 25% reduction in fees, to help you with legal issues related to an elderly or disabled relative.
Just in Time Care provides faculty and staff up to $350 per year to help pay for back-up care. Benefits-eligible employees with a full-time equivalent annual salary of less than $70,000 are eligible. You can register by contacting the EAP.
