Housing

Harvard has many resources that support the housing and relocation needs of faculty.

Faculty Real Estate Services.

Faculty Real Estate Services, a division of Harvard Residential Real Estate Services, provides a broad range of housing services to both current faculty members and to those who are being recruited by the University. These services are offered at no charge and include:

  • Home buying and selling services; including cash back on transactions.
  • Harvard-owned condos that are priced below fair market value.
  • Rental assistance for Harvard-owned and private market housing.
  • Maine vacation rentals in a Harvard-owned property.

In addition, Faculty Real Estate Services manages the Real Estate Advantage Program, which is available to all Harvard University faculty and staff. They also offer free home buying and selling seminars.

Harvard University Employees Credit Union (HUECU).

Harvard University Employees Credit Union offers start-to-finish guidance in the home-buying process, along with daily featured rates and low fees. Services include helping you find the right loan, perfect your application, calculate your expenses and manage the closing. Harvard University's Preferred Lenders.

You can benefit from discounted interest rates, closing fees and home equity loans if you work with Harvard's preferred mortgage lenders:

JPMorgan Chase & Co. offers discounted interest rates, a $400 reduction in closing costs, and personalized services for first-mortgage purchase and refinance transactions.

Mortgage and Education Loan Office (MELO).

The Mortgage and Educational Loan Office administers loans to faculty and staff as directed by Corporation vote. MELO works with the Schools, the Vice-President of Finance, the Office of the General Counsel and the Corporation to monitor and protect the parameters of loan authorizations. In addition, to the above services and programs, individual schools may offer housing assistance.
